David Duchovny's Gay Gaffe

"X-Files" actor David Duchovny took part in L.A.'s Outfest Legacy Awards last night, and left the audience stunned after making an ad-libbed comment on stage. Witnesses reported that Duchovny attended the event with his eight-year-old daughter, Madeline. When he was asked to introduce a short series of clips of on-screen gay characters, Duchovny deadpanned, "Can someone please cover my daughter's eyes and ears?"

Rather than cracking up, the audience clammed up and wondered what exactly he meant. *crickets* The clips, said attendees, were no more offensive, off-color or risque than clips at any other awards show, reported JanetCharltonsHollywood.com.

Calls to Duchovny's rep were not immediately returned.

1. Why would David Duchovny ever take his daughter to an event like that in the first place if he's the kind of parent who doesn't want his daughter to be exposed to that lifestyle? Duh!

2. Who cares? David Duchovney is the nicest, most down-to-earth person in the world. He probably meant nothing at all except that his kids is so young and the nature of the awards might have suggested something less-than appropriate. Gosh... you guys like to villainize even the good people in Hollywood for nothing.

7. Children do need to be protected from homosexuality. It is REALLY confusing
to them as this is not natural. If it were, the parts would fit! And they would be able to
procreate. They clam they are "born this way" They can continue to believe that but
it doesn't make it so.

8. And the problem would be wot?

9. Come on, anyone that is a fan of DD knows he was being sarcastic. Yes, he took his daughter to the event so he obviously doesn't have a probelm expossing her to "that" lifestyle. The comment is mocking those patents that wouldn't have a problem with their childern being exposed to clips of straight characters but would immediatley be offended by a gay character. Some parents let their children watch straight couple pratically do the deed on network TV, but if a gay couple kisses, the scene is short and/or edited. Often videos at Blockbuster receive a parent advisory warning for nothing more than a homosexual kiss. The scenes to be introduced may not have been sexual in nature, but DD was obviously making social commentary on the hyper sensitivity of many people.

10. Children needs to know from a young age that homosexuality is natural. So that people can stop judging each other on these superficial things. Someone YOU know is GAY and it is NOT a decision. Wake up already people. As for Mulder, he shouldn't have taken his child there at all, if he is supposedly so overprotective.

11. Maybe he thought Outfest just meant that you had to go outdoors to get to the event. If he is so concerned about what his daughter would see and hear there - why was she there in the first place? Kinda poor parenting skills if you ask me. If you're that concerned a parent about what you expose your child to, you kinda do a little homework before the event to find out what it is and what will take place there. Duh.
